Featured Workers - Norma Maness

Norma Maness is passionate about Guatemala!  Norma first started to come to Guatemala through a short term mission trip in 1999.  Almost 10 years later, Guatemala claims a big piece of her heart and is her “second family”. 

Norma is a widow.  After the loss of her husband, she thought that she would never be truly and completely happy again.  God placed a love for Guatemala and her people in Norma’s heart to fill this void and she has never been more fulfilled.  Norma has repeatedly come every year and now spends from 3-4 months here every year.  She has won the heart of the people in Guatemala too and they always anticipate her arrival.

Norma is from Ontario, Canada and even while she is there; she walks 10 miles everyday, has her nutritionist and personal trainer and takes Spanish lessons…all with the desire to be as effective as she can while she is in Guatemala.  Norma gets to know the teams that come in and now has invitations from all over the US to come visit when she is in their area.  Norma loves to jump in and get involved in whatever is going on; whether that is mixing cement or carrying block on a construction site, giving out parasite treatments at our medical outreaches, weighing food and filling the Embrace food bags,  or whatever else needs to be done. 

Norma is a true example of how someone can use their “autumn years” in a productive and gratifying way and we pray that she will continue to bless Servant Ministries and the people of Guatemala for many years to come.
