Kim's Korner

We have finished our Christmas buying for Embrace and now we are putting together packages and organizing into groups all that has been purchased.  I had fun buying a new item on our Christmas blessing list this year which was the “Happy Pak”.  I wanted the “Happy Pak” to be an alternative to those who wanted to buy something for their sponsor child and with budgets tight this could help at just $8.  I was so excited at the response, many who purchased filters hammocks etc. also bought a “Happy pak” so their child would have something (not much fun playing with a water filter).  I had 56 in total!!  The bags are filled with dollar store toys, cars helicopters, dolls, jewelry, wallets, hair ties, candy and so much more!   I was able to purchase so much and all in a reusable bag.  They will be thrilled to receive this rare treat!

November was also the month (sadly) that we handed out letters to those that are leaving the program.  We are happy that they are able to leave as it has taken many years to get them into a healthy enough state, but, as they leave we have many more who need your help.  I ask that you prayerfully consider continuing with your sponsorship to impact another child’s life.

We encourage our Embrace families to pray for their sponsor family.  Many of you have sent pictures of your family down to your sponsor child.  I will let you know I have seen many of them faded and cracked but still proudly displayed in their homes.  We have had parents ask “can I have a picture of my child’s sponsor family?”  I encourage you to send a picture with your child’s code and name on the back either to the Michigan office or to Koinonia Christian Fellowship c/o Sandy Hughes.  I will make sure that your picture is in the hands of your child as soon as possible. They will be thrilled!
