Short-Term Missions

Send us your story...

Have you been on a short term trip to Guatemala in the last year or so??????  Write us and tell us how it impacted your life and how you enjoyed it!  We would like to start a new area that shares these “testimonies” with others in the hopes of motivating them to come on a team.  You first timers can identify with the fact that you just “don’t know what you are getting into” and there are always a lot of questions.  You can also share how it really turned out and what kind of an experience it was for you.  I know that these short term trips can absolutely change people’s lives! Will you help us to encourage others to take the step to have this experience?????  Send your testimony to nancy@servantministries.net and let others be blessed through your experience!

Pastors' Retreat/Lions for Sight Team, January 7-14, 2012, Graham, TX

Six people came, five from Graham, TX plus a pastor from Campeche Mexico.  Verl Hart came to do his second annual pastors’ retreat and Pastor Reggie, from Mexico, came as his interpreter.  We had our 9 Servant Ministries pastors come to spend 2 nights and 3 days at the ministry center.  Most of our pastors do 7 services a week in their churches; they are always giving.  It was wonderful to see them have the chance to be on the receiving end and to be ministered to and encouraged in what God has called them to.

The second big event that they came to cover was to be the bridge between the Graham’s Lions’ Club and Servant Ministries.  This Lions’ Club donated and shipped 3800 pairs of glasses, along with all of the equipment that we need to do eye exams.  It has been a long term dream for us to add “optical care” to the ministry clinic and it is becoming a reality.  All 5 people from Graham had gone through a training to know how to use the equipment and they came down to train both our North American and Guatemalan workers.  We also invited some local Operation Blessing people, as they are also interested in beginning a similar outreach.  We received our training and we had two practice times to see patients, that consisted mostly of our pastors, ministry workers’ and their families and a few from the local church in Camotan.  We saw about 55 people and gave them a complete eye exam.  Some received prescription glasses, some just readers, and everyone got free sunglasses and an eye case.  It is one more way that we will be able to reach out to people through providing a service, to bring the love of God and blessing to their lives.  The team was a tremendous blessing and we hope to see them come back.

Crossville, TX Medical Team, January 19-29, 2012

18 people from Crossville, TN plus one who came from MI to join them, came to do their annual medical clinic outreach.  This year we had the extra blessing of having a dentist and dental assistant be in the mix of the team, which allowed us to do extractions along side of the medical clinic outreaches.  They started with a half day in Camotan and then had 4 full days of clinic in the mountain villages, seeing approximately 300 patients per day, with a total of 1250 patients that were seen, with 37 making a decision to accept the Lord at our prayer stations. 240 teeth were extracted!  A childhood friend that I grew up with, Janet Lippincott, came and assisted alongside this team and then stayed for a little longer visit.
