Come experience the friendly people of Guatemala and see their colorful Mayan culture. This is an opportunity to have a true “hands on” experience and to mix your time of vacation and pleasure with the opportunity to get involved with the many different forms of outreach of Servant Ministries.

A comfortable one bedroom apartment is located within an enclosed security wall and with North American workers living all around you. The apartment features full size appliances in your fully stocked kitchen, a dining/living room, a bedroom, bathroom and walk in closet. It also has a roof top patio complete with a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. You have access to the swimming pool which is just next door at the ministry center.

map Most people will arrive at a modern airport in Guatemala City, with marimba music playing and many friendly faces to greet you. People are available to answer any of your questions in English. Should you need help with your bags, porters are there to help you to your awaiting private vehicle and chauffer.

Your chauffer will whisk you through the busy city streets of Guatemala to the inviting mountains. You wind your way up and over these never ending picturesque views, past coffee farms, papaya plantations and the smell of sweet pineapples as you pass the rows and rows of farmers selling their fruit. Along the way, you will have a chance to stop and stretch your legs as you take in more of the local culture.

While most people will fly into Guatemala City, there are two other options available. We are located in Camotan, Chiquimula in the eastern region of Guatemala, about four hours from Guatemala City. The airports in San Salvador, El Salvador, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras are also about four hours of road transportation from our center.

You reach your destination, tucked away in a small town named Camotan that will be your home away from home. A comfortable one bedroom apartment, move in ready awaits you. After you get settled in, go up to the rooftop to enjoy the incredible panoramic views of the mountains that surround you on all sides. Oh, don’t forget to put on a pot of coffee to take up on the roof with you. You receive a complimentary pound of coffee of some of “Guatemala’s finest” that will make even the most serious coffee drinkers coming back for more.

You can decide how to schedule your time. This is a unique opportunity to combine the chance to serve and to kick back and enjoy as well. We believe we can be a great alternative to snowbirds going to escape the cold northern winters, teachers who want a memorable time over their summer breaks or just a vacation get-away that will show you the “real Guatemala” and give you a chance to interact, and have hands-on opportunities to make a difference. The people are friendly, the culture inviting and there are many beautiful sites to enjoy in the surrounding area.

Do you have any special talents that we can put to use???? Just let us know; whether that is cutting hair, doing small handyman jobs, photography, gardening etc. No special skills? How about a willing set of hands? The apartment is managed by Servant Ministries, a multi-faceted ministry that always has something going on where you can jump in and lend a hand.
